Every caregiver we place is background checked, personally interviewed, and reference-verified. Here's what that means for you as a caregiver — what we check, when it happens, and the rights you keep the whole way through.
What the check covers
The report is prepared by an independent consumer reporting agency, not by us. Depending on the role, it may include:
- Criminal record check
- Sex offender registry check
- Motor vehicle records
- Identity verification
- Confirmation of prior employment and references
When it happens
You apply
The application asks about your experience and availability — never about criminal history. Minnesota law bars those questions until after you've been selected for an interview, and we follow it.
You sign the authorization
Right after you apply, we ask you to read a standalone disclosure and sign an authorization. Nothing is ordered until you've signed — and we keep a record of exactly which words you agreed to.
The check runs alongside vetting
An independent consumer reporting agency prepares the report while we interview you personally and call your references. Families meet you already trusting you.
Your rights
Nothing happens without your signature
The check only runs with your written authorization, given after a disclosure that stands on its own — no fine print folded into other paperwork.
A free copy of your report
Minnesota law gives you the right to a free copy of any consumer report we obtain about you. Check the box on the authorization form and the reporting agency must send you one within 24 hours of giving it to us, at no charge.
You can ask what we looked at
You have the right to request, in writing, a complete and accurate disclosure of the nature and scope of any report we obtain about you.
A conviction isn't an automatic no
If something does come up, we consider the nature of the offense, how long ago it was, and its relevance to caregiving — honesty matters more than a spotless record.
