Privacy policy
Your family's details stay in confidence.
The Nanny Co. is a household staffing agency. This policy explains what information we collect through our website and iOS app, how we use it, and the choices you have. Effective August 9, 2026.
Information we collect
We collect information you give us directly, and only what we need to make and support placements:
- Contact and account details. Your name, phone number, and email address. Signing in works with a one-time code sent to your phone by text message — we never store a password.
- Family details. If you inquire about care, the household information you share with us: your city and ZIP code, schedule, care needs, pay expectations, pets, notes about your home, and the ages of your children.
- Caregiver applications. If you apply to work with us, your work history, availability, references, certifications, and any résumé or files you upload.
- Device and usage information. Session cookies that keep you signed in, a push-notification token if you enable notifications in our iOS app, and internal activity logs that help us keep accounts secure.
How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- Match families with caregivers and support placements.
- Communicate with you — including text messages for sign-in codes and updates about your search or application.
- Operate, secure, and improve the service.
We do not sell your information, show ads, or use third-party advertising or analytics trackers.
How we share information
Discretion is one of our core values. We share information only:
- To make a match. Relevant details are shared between a family and the candidates being considered for their household — and only with the people who need to know.
- With service providers that run our infrastructure: web hosting (Vercel), our database (Neon), text messaging (Twilio), and push notifications (Apple). They process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
- When required by law, or to protect the safety and rights of our families, caregivers, or business.
Children's privacy
Our service is for adults. Parents and guardians share information about their children (such as ages) so we can find the right caregiver, and we treat that information with particular care. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children under 13.
Retention, access, and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service and meet our legal obligations. You can delete your account yourself at any time: sign in, open your account, and choose Delete my account. That permanently removes your sign-in and the records tied to it — your family file, your application, the interview notes attached to it, and any background-check authorization we never acted on. It cannot be undone.
One record survives that deletion. If we already ran a background check on you, the authorization you signed is our only proof we were permitted to run it, and the law requires us to be able to produce it — so we keep that single document for five years from the day you signed and then destroy it. It is detached from every file, nobody works from it, and we do not use it to contact you. Nothing else about you is kept.
You can also ask us to see, correct, or delete that information — email thenannycomn@gmail.com or call 715-529-2981 and we'll take care of it.
Security
Your information is encrypted in transit, stored with reputable infrastructure providers, and accessible only to the people who need it to run the service. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information the same way we'd want ours protected.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we'll update this page and the effective date above. Continued use of the service after a change means the updated policy applies.
